121/132: Henry Colvin was engineer on The Randolph, which later capsized entering the Coquille River north of Bandon. Henry was saved by rescuers who used axes to chop him out of the boat where he was trapped.
Also on the boat was Don Buffington's grandfather, Knorr, who was a pharmacist, and Ed Carpenter's father, Chancey (or Chauncey) Carpenter who swam ashore and went for help.
Legend has it that his first words after being rescued were, "Anybody got a chaw of tobacco?"
